January 31 Opening NightSo opening night for my play is tomorrow, dress rehearsal tonight. I went to rehearsal on Monday night and started feeling sort of sick. Then on Tuesday morning I woke up and my neck was swollen and it hurt so bad to swallow. I thought I'd be going to the doctor, but I would have to wait until Zach had finished his swimming lessons and was off at school. So we went swimming, and Zach decided to go running and diving into the shallow end with one of the little girls in his class, but he dove too soon and smacked his knee up. He came out of the water crying, but his knee was okay, as I was getting him calmed down, I noticed his eye was all goopy. Pink eye. Our neighbor just couldn't keep her infected kid inside, and so now we have it. I told him he couldn't go back into the pool, and we both went to a doctor. Turned out I have strep throat and of course Zach has pink eye. I feel better today, but definitely not 100%. I'll be able to pull it off on stage I'm sure, but I really hope I don't get pink eye on top of it all. I have to wear contacts, so it would really suck.
That's it. I'll update again in a week when it's all over.
Krista January 24 Binoo the Blue BettaI forgot to mention last week that we got a pet. It all started with a Christmas gift. Jessica got an Elmo felt board book, it came with a bunch of felt picture pieces you place around Elmos room. One of the pieces was a goldfish bowl. Jessica put it on our living room table, and made that her fish. It laid there flat for quite some time, because this was her pet. I felt so bad that we went out and got the real thing. Well, not gold fish, but a betta, or beta, depending on where you buy them from. They are also called siamese fighting fish. This is a male, and if you put two males in the same tank they fight until the death. So we have one. His name is Binoo. Binoo the blue betta. I had him on a lower table, but Jessica kept trying to cuddle him, or stir his water, just trying to interact with him, so he now sits up high, and he seems content. I'll add pictures of him in a new album.
I'll also add pictures of Zach's new haircut in the same album. We went this morning to get both of them trimmed up, but Jess wasn't having any of that, so it was just Zach. If you look closely at the side shot of him you can see his silver streak. Yep, turns out that one piece of hair right near his temple that everyone has been telling me is just a really light blonde piece, really is a patch of white, like I thought. Enjoy the pictures.
Until the next time,
Krista January 17 OOPS! I guess I missed last week.I guess I missed last week, but I don't feel that bad about it. By missing a week, I actually have something to talk about, and it also means I've not been chained to my computer.
Last week things started back to a regular schedule. Zach went back to school, and started his swimming lessons again. We could sure see the difference in his swimming abilities. It's amazing what a year of growing, and a summer spent in the backyard pool can do for your confidence.
We also hit a milestone with Jessica. We had long told her if she would pee on the potty that she could start school, just like Zach. She loved Zach's preschool teacher, Shannon, so she really worked hard to be able to go to Shannon's class. So on the 9th she started preschool. It was hard on me. But she loved it. When I went to pick her up she told me from the backseat of the car that she wanted to go back, NOW! I think she'll do just fine there.
We also went to my sister's house on the weekend for Natalie's birthday party. She wanted a princess party, so Jess and I went shopping for a new dress. Jess loves to shop, and we always have a good time in the stores. I hope we always have that common ground. The kids had a great time at the party, and Zach went as a knight. It was great to be able to get some more wear out of his Halloween costume. The cousins are getting along splendidly these days, and I get frequent request to go spend the night at aunties. It's so cool that they have a close relationship with extended family members.
I started two new albums up top there, so click away. I finally got the Christmas ones up. We all look so good first thing in the morning!
That's all for now, until the next time,
Krista January 03 Wednesday UpdateI have decided to update on Wednesdays. This being Wednesday, here I am updating. Happy new year to everyone. I was hoping to have pictures to go with an update, but all of the Christmas morning photos were taken on my mom's camera, and even though I got a memory stick for Christmas, I wasn't able to take the photos home with me. I know you're wondering why I didn't just burn them to a disc, or use my memory card. I'll tell you why, I stayed away from the TV and the computer for an entire 8 days. It wasn't even painful! I really did see just how much time I waste everyday on the computer, so I'm getting a timer and allowing myself only a small allotment of time each day for copmuter use.
And now my time is up.
I will tell you all about Christmas and New Year's, and our trip, next week. I should have photos by then too. But I'll leave you with this really cute one of Jess chasing the Geese in Stanley Park.
Until the next time.
