December 23 Merry ChristmasMerry Christmas!!!!
I hope everyone who reads this will have the very best of Christmases this year. I will pray for peace, love and happiness for you all.
I have taken a good look recently at the amount of time I spend on the computer, and watching television. I didn't like the view. So before the new year starts I have decided to change a few things in my life. I will still keep a blog, but it will be strictly about, and for, the kids. It will be all the things they do and say, all the milestones. I will only update once a week at most, probably a lot less. The new year is looking very busy, and I must make better use of my time, so this is one way for me to start. As for the television, well, like I said I plan to be too busy to really be able to get "into" any new programming, I hope. I really should get rid of cable, it would save me a lot of money, I'm not sure I'm that brave yet. They say that if you have an addiction, you must remove the temptation, in order to give yourself a good start in overcoming that addiction. I will be away for over a week starting tomorrow, and I won't be watching TV or surfin' the web at all while I'm away, maybe coming home to no cable is the way to go. Soemthing to talk over with Mike. Wish me luck, and if you're the praying type, throw one up for me. Thanks. I know it will not only improve my life, but that of my kids. The time we will gain back, the time we will spend together.
All the best to you and yours.
Until the New Year,
Krista December 20 Christmas Update (get comfy, this is a long one)Christmas isn't my favorite time of year, but it's right up there in the top ten. This year has been a bit rough on me though. I've had a hard time getting into the holiday festive spirit. Today changed all that, and I'm no longer bah humm buggin'! Today was Zach's Christmas concert at school. SOOOOO CUTE! Pictures will be added to this post. Zach and his class dressed up as reindeer, and sang Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, and recited a poem. Each class did their part, and then at the end the whole school did a finale. They all sang Old Toy Trains (one of my favs) and the Santa Mamba. I was really impressed, Zach didn't miss a beat, even through a huge yawn he was singing! Very funny.
I'm almost done my shopping. It always seems as though I'm done and then I realize I've forgotten something, and I have to go back out, and while I'm out I find something great for one of the kids, so then I have to find something for the other kid to make it fair.....I guess Mike is right, I'm just a good consumer. It's been fun this year, the shopping I mean. I started really earlier, like back in Sept., and now I have this huge stockpile for the kids. They'll have a good year.
My sister and I had a huge fight. Totally my fault. I tried to apologize as soon as I said those nasty words, but I guess I didn't sound sincere, and the damage was already done. I don't want to use hormones as an excuse, so I didn't tell her that I had missed taking my hormone replacements for 4 days in a row, and I was feeling like a football player jack up on roids. I could hear her hurt on the phone, and I listened to her cry, and I couldn't feel a thing. There was no softness to me. Anyway, I got back on track with my meds, and we eventually talked things out. When she found out about my lack of medication, she was very understanding, and I think she would have liked to have known sooner, but again, it really wasn't any excuse for what I said. So now that I have told the world what a big jerk I am, maybe that will help in the healing as well.
I went to see my niece Kelsey perform in her first play "My Fair Lady". She was part of the chorus, and also a "lady" at the races. She had one line "How do you do?". She was brilliant! Lots of dancing and singing, the whole cast did a great job, and worked very hard. I just hope my play goes so well in Feb.!
For those of you who don't already know I have bought my first "flipping" house. I finally found one that passed inspection, and had some really cute features. It's a small 2 bedroom in Cumberland, and it's old, 56 years I think. It has the original fir floors though, and once I'm done with it, it'll be a real gem. I'll put up some "before and after" pictures when I get to the "after" stage. I don't take possession until the end of Jan., and my play runs Feb. 1,2,3, so I'll be diving in after that. Wish me luck.
The biggest news though, is that I'm going to be an auntie again!!! My sister Cassandra is due in May. I'm so excited for her, and I can't wait to spoil the new little one rotten!
I guess that's all for now, until the next time,
Krista December 04 Telus Complaint EmailHello to all! My phone is back on , after 2 weeks of no service. I should be happy, but all I can think of is that I still have to deal with telus every month for my basic line rental. I've called telus and cancelled all of my services except basic line rental, and now I'm encouraging everyone to do the same. This might seem drastic, but wait until you hear how they have treated me, and will treat you if the situation arises. I had my phone go out on me on Nov.21, I called telus and they said it would take a week to get someone out to fix it. In the mean time it snowed. The technician arrived on the right date, looked at a few things, said he didn't have the right parts and that he would be back, and he left. He never came back. I had to call to find out that he had referred it to the line repair people, and they couldn't tell me when they would come to repair it. I asked to speak to the line repair people then, and they said they would file an escalation form and a supervisor would get back to me within 24-48 hours, on my neighbors phone. They didn't call. I finally got my phone back 6 days after the repair man came. When I called to get a refund on my bill, I was greeted with sarcasm and informed that it was because of the snow that my phone outage wasn't fixed promptly. They had other people who had been without phone because of the snow that needed to be fixed first. The people who were without phone because of the snow were without phone for a maximum of 3 days. So they basically told me that if you lose your phone, and you are the only one affected in your area, you don't count. If there are 2 or more people affected on another line, they get service first. No "first come first" serve for telus, you have to be in a majority. Let's let them know that just because we have no other choice for telephone provider, doesn't mean they can treat us this way. Let's hit them in their pocket books. Please pass this to everyone you know. Just about everyone I've spoken to has had a problem at one time or another with telus, let's stand up and tell them it's not right. Thank you, Krista Wood December 03 Zach's 5th BirthdayWell, my baby boy is now 5. I can't believe that time has gone by so quickly. Zach had it in his head that his birthday was to be a surprise somehow, even though he knew he was having a party. So I set up the living room the night before with decorations and a present. When he woke up, he called form his room "Mom, Dad, start decorating so I can be surprised!". I told him to just get up and go downstairs, we're still sleeping. He went down and quickly ran back up, I kissed and hugged my birthday boy "surprise" I said. We all went downstairs, and he found out he got another surprise. We had decided to let him open one present first thing that morning, it just happened to be Gramps present. Hot Wheels, double track, pterodactyl launching, Hot Wheels. He loved it. We set it up and he was playing in his room with Daddy for quite awhile. I don't know who enjoyed it more, Daddy or Zach. To honour his special day we had a Backward Party! Everyone, well almost everyone, dressed backwards, and we ate cake as soon as every was there, then we open presents, and then we had hotdogs! We did everything in the opposite order from what most parties do. I had planned to play games last, but the kids were having fun playing with the toys and such, so I just let the play. Too bad though, I was going to play pin the donkey on the tail, and have the person farthest away be the winner, it would have been fun. The kids enjoyed themselves anyway. There were the usual suspects in attendance, Ryan, Erik and Karla from next door, Maddie and Marissa from next door, and cousins Natalie and Rebecca. Zach invited 4 friends from school, but only one showed up. Maybe the parents were confused by the thank you cards I sent out as invitations, or maybe they didn't come because they couldn't get a hold of us by phone, since it's still not working, but that's another story. After the party, Auntie and the cousins decided to stay for supper, and help us put up our Christmas tree. The day ended with Chinese order in and a family photo session, all dressed up in front of our beautiful tree. I have included then in the newly created photo album above. That's all for now, until the next time, Krista |
